Dudley Evolve Scheme
Following on from the Midlands success within the Education Sector, the Midlands office partnered with ISG (Midlands) to secure the impressive Dudley Evolve Scheme. At circa 9000m2 and a build value of circa £20m the office are ensuring their expertise within this sector is utilised by finding similar work to that already completed. The vast experience of the Midland’s Teams is undoubtedly bringing benefits in not only securing this type of work but also successfully completing it on time and to budget and this scheme is the next in line following on from Ormiston Academy. The scheme comprises of biomass boiler, window operated natural vent system, large comfort cooled system, state of the art lighting control and will be fully modularised wherever possible, again utilising the previous success we have had with MDSL.

Blackburn College - Master Plan Phase 3
Working in partnership with Bardsley Construction, Lorne Stewart Plc are proud to announce that work has now started on this site, from our Leigh office the teams are lead by Simon Kendrick and Mike Rimmer. The new Core Building at Blackburn College will accommodate approximately 8,660 square metres (93,200 square feet) of specialist purpose built teaching and administration space, including a new Learning Resource Centre/Library, Student Services, Social Space and Exhibition Space.

Siemens Urban Sustainability Centre
The Siemens Urban Sustainability Centre, in the heart of London’s Docklands, will be an iconic building providing a place for community enjoyment as well as promoting education and learning in the fields of science, engineering, technology and sustainability. It is envisaged that the centre will attract approx. 100,000 visitors every year. Siemens is committed to the development of new technologies and the centre will give visitors an opportunity to learn about technological solutions to urban challenges such as climate change and urban sustainability. The building itself will showcase sustainable technologies and will demonstrate excellence in sustainable construction (targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent and an EPC “‘A” rating’). The building will also provide office space, a state of the art 300 seat auditorium as well as a shop, restaurant and café facilities. Through design, the building will reduce energy consumption and where energy is required as much as possible will be taken from the surrounding site in the form of renewables. The project will bring together both current established best practice systems, such as photo-voltaic cells, solar thermal water heating, rainwater harvesting and ground source heat-pumps together with developing technologies in heat recovery such as ‘thermal wheels’. Lorne Stewart will be on site from June 2011 to March 2012 working with the Main Contractor; ISG.

Weston Super Mare Emergency Department
The construction team from our Bristol office contributed to achieving a successful hand over of the refurbished Emergency Department at Weston Super Mare District General Hospital some 6 Weeks ahead of programme. The project was carried out with our Partner; Costain under the P21 banner and was the fifth successful Design and Build project carried out by our Bristol/Gloucester offices under this scheme and the second project at Weston.

New Contract with Cornwall Council
Southern Region Services was awarded the contract by Cornwall Council to maintain building services across the council’s three regions and a total of approx 400 properties, predominately schools, colleges, libraries, day centres and civic buildings. Following a competitive tender process involving major competitors and local regional companies, Lorne Stewart were awarded top marks across all three regions following evaluation against five categories; financial, technical, service delivery, health and safety and quality assurance.

On Site 2010 Employer of the Year (Large Company)
Our Bristol Region have been awarded the "On Site 2010 Employer of the Year (Large Company)". Congratulations to the Bristol Region, Alan Garrett who has worked tirelessly with Mechanical and Electrical Craft Apprentices, which has enabled this achievement to be attained. The award was presented by David Bishop, Strategic Director, Bristol City Council.

2010 SLAM Awards Dinner Dance
"The seventh annual SLAM Charity Awards Dinner Dance was held on Friday 22nd October 2010 at the prestigious DeVere Venue of Staverton Park in Daventry. With approximately 210 people attending including representatives from Debut Services Limited, the Lorne Stewart PLC SLAM Supply Chain and SSAFA Forces Help, it once again turned into another successful event. Seven awards were handed out to the Suppliers and Sub-Contractors who had excelled in their performance on Project SLAM and the Debut Services Award – presented by Graham Jeffery – Program Director of Debut Services Limited was awarded to our very own David Bunce (Southampton Branch) for amongst many positive comments, “Very good pro-active and partnering attitude, open, honest and responsive, goes out of his way to help……” Colin Perfect received an award from the Supply Chain in recognition of his 8 years work, helping and supporting them on the Project. Money is still being counted, however a substantial cheque will be presented to SSAFA Forces Help in December to add to the £20,500 raised to date from Lorne Stewart Project SLAM events for SSAFA Forces Help Four Wacky Waiters provided interaction with our guests during dinner and the band “The Talent” entertained us with their extended play list and Paul Martin – Mind Reader & Magician “wowed” his audience with his fascinating talent and Russ Williams MC and Comedian was outstanding. The Ladies attending the event queued for the chocolate fountain and dance simulator whilst the Gents competed with each other on the “Vision Racer” simulator for pole position."
